Zinnias

Zinnias have daisy-like blooms that come in a wide variety of colors. They love sunny locations. Most of our zinnias stay compact reaching between 10” -14” tall & wide. If you’re looking for taller growing varieties check out our seed collection. Fertilizing and cutting spent blooms will keep your zinnias looking their best all season. Great for filling large flower beds! Varieties typically in stock are Profusion, Double profusion, Zinnia linearis, Dreamland/Magellan.

Mecardoina

Mecardonia has petite golden yellow flowers but produces a big display all summer. Noted for its heat tolerance it likes a well drained soil and a sunny spot. Perfect for container gardening!

Pentas

Pentas are a durable flower that can handle full sun to partial shade. They bloom in clusters of star-shaped flowers that are a top choice for butterflies and hummingbirds. They come in many shades of red, white, pink and lavender. Pentas are available in a compact series reaching 10”-14” tall & wide or in a more traditionally taller form reaching 2-3’ tall.

Sunpatiens

Sunpatiens give your garden picturesque beauty. They continuously bloom from spring to frost and look great planted in mass. These robust plants also perform just as well in the shade too! Sunpatiens can grow 24”-36” tall & wide.

Marigolds

Flowers can be rounded and ruffled or daisy-like, coming in red, yellow, orange, and bi-color selections. They provide bright cheery spring color or beautiful autumnal shades late in the year. Marigolds will add a pop of color to the landscape or container. Varieties offered in pots are often compact growing 12 16” tall & wide. For taller growing varieties check out our seed selection.

Petunias

Petunias provide excellent color fall through spring for us in Tallahassee. New varieties and colors come out every year that add interest and excitement to your garden. Petunias are a classic option to trail in a mixed container or hanging basket. For the biggest show we recommend fertilizing often. For the absolute best performing petunia try the Proven Winner’s Suptertunias. Petunias are either mounded 12” tall & wide or low and rambling growing 6-20” tall and 16- 24” wide. Varieties often carried: Suptertunias, Bravo Series, Dream Series, Waves Series and Supercals.

Vinca or Periwinkle

This annual loves full sun! They’re extremely floriforus and make great container plants. They come in many bright colors that are great for attracting butterflies. For hanging baskets or a trailing element in your mixed container be sure to try the Cascading Vinca. Often used in mass for a beautiful display. Grow to about 10-16” tall & wide. Varieties typically in stock: XDR Vinca, Cascade Mix Vinca, Vinca Soiree Kawaii Mix.

Geraniums

A truly classic flower beloved for over a century. Blooms fall through spring in red, pink, white, or lavender. Cut spent flower stems and fertilize regularly to keep your geraniums looking clean and magnificent. Beautiful in containers! Giving your geraniums some shade during the hottest of summer will help bridge the gap from spring.

Creeping Jenny

Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ Low-maintenance ground cover or trailing option for a container, hanging basket or window box. Attractive round chartroose foliage stays green all year round without much fuss. One of our favorites! Stays low 2-4” tall and spreads 24” + wide.

Sweet Alyssum

This gracefully trailing flower has small fragrant blooms attractive to bees and butterflies. Often used in patio containers and hanging baskets, this is a top choice for trailing options. One variety that receives high marks from us is Proven Winner’s Snow Princess. Alyssum comes in white, lavender, and shades of pink. Alyssum stays low growing to about 10” tall and up to 20” wide. Varieties often found in stock are Snow Princess, Blushing Princess, Stream Silver, Stream purple, White Knight, and Dark Night.

Angelonia

Also known as the summer snapdragon this hardy heat tolerant annual will pick up right where your snaps leave off in late spring. Tall spikes of white, purple, or pink keep the color coming right through fall. They offer height and a vertical accent in the landscape or mixed patio container. Newer varieties offer bigger blooms and exciting new colors! Grows 12” -16” tall and wide. Varieties typically carried: Serenita and Archangel.

Blue Daze

This uniquely colored annual has great heat tolerance for our summers. It stays low and mounded in the landscape or trails in a container. Low maintenance option with high impact! Grows 8” tall by 12” wide.

Impatiens

This favorite for shade gardening is extremely low maintenance and provides color spring to fall. They come in a mix of colors including white, pink, lavender, red, and orange. Perfect for large displays of color. Impatiens grow 12” tall & wide.

Bacopa

Coleus

Annual. Sun. Shade. Today’s varieties of coleus are truly spectacular and are an absolute must-have in your collection. They come in a rainbow of colors and patterns that add a bold impact to your garden. Extremely easy to grow! Varieties available for either sun or shade.

Alocasias/Colocasias

Annual. Perennial. Sun. Shade. Sometimes known as Elephant Ears, these tropical looking perennials bring a lush tropical texture to any garden. They thrive in warm humid conditions. Some varieties can be grown indoors or outside and vary greatly in size depending upon the variety. Incredibly easy to grow in our climate. We only sell clumping varieties that will not become a nuisance in the yard.

Agastache

Also known as Anise Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint, this perennial is a favorite among gardeners and pollinators. The foliage is highly aromatic and deer resistant. These plants produce columns of bright showy flowers from late spring to fall. They love a warm sunny spot in a well drained soil.

Black Eyed Susan

Black-Eyed Susans are an absolute staple for any butterfly or pollinator garden. They’re easy to grow and maintain. Plants can be propagated easily by seed or division. Rudbeckias typically bloom late spring through fall. We carry several different selections throughout the year when available.

Black Coral Colocasia

(Colocasia esculenta) Black Coral has large glossy deep purple leaves that glistens in the sunlight. These large richly colored leaves will instantly add some drama to either your container or landscape. Doesn’t mind a boggy area or on the margin of a pond. Grows 3-4′ tall.

Blanket Flower

Blanket Flower is a perennial option that adores a hot sunny spot. They have daisy-like flowers that are brilliantly colored in shades of red, yellow or both. They prefer a sandy well drained soil and once established require very little maintenance. Great for pollinators! Heat, drought, and deer tolerant.

Bleeding Heart Vine

This shade loving vine has showy red flowers that hang from the base of its white heart-shaped calyx. This vine has been a favorite among gardeners for years because of just how easy it is to grow!

Butterfly Bush

A must have for butterfly gardens! Beautiful cone-shaped flowers appear from spring to fall. Highly attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds! They come in many fun colors. Heights will depend on variety and can range from 3’ up to 6’. Deer Resistant. Easy to grow and drought resistant once established.

Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a dazzling tropical vine that can put on a breathtaking display of flowers. It loves full sun and warm weather. They can be trained as vine on a structure like an arbor or trimmed into a bush. Come in many bright tropical colors. Protect from the cold.

Blue Daze

Browallia

Browallia has beautiful blue/purple flowers that bloom continuously from spring to frost. Mixes well with other shady options in a container. Great choice if you’re looking for something new to try in the shade. Grows 12”-16” tall and 10”-14” wide.

Canna Lilies

Cannas are perennials with delightful tropical-like foliage and large flowers that resemble that of iris. They are low maintenance and easy to grow, and both their flowers and foliage offer long-lasting color in the garden. Can be grown in a wet area or in normal soil conditions.

Calibrachoa

This is a charming plant with prolific petunia-like blooms that come in a rainbow of solid colors, stripes, or patterns. Its trailing habit looks stunning in hanging baskets or mixed containers. Grows 8”-10” tall and spreading.

Caladiums

Caladiums are a perennial bulb that gives you an easy pop of color. New varieties are now even giving gardners more choices for sunny locations too! Each big leaf is often painted with intricate patterns and colors. Try yours in a patio container or planted right in the ground.

Coleus

Today’s varieties of coleus are truly spectacular and are an absolute must-have in your collection. They come in a rainbow of colors and patterns that add a bold impact to your garden. Extremely easy to grow! Varieties available for either sun or shade.

Cleome

Cleome has fantastic summer performance here in the south. The flowers typically come in light lavender or pink and are great for attracting butterflies! Drought tolerant once established. Newer varieties are more compact, they have thornless stems and don’t self seed making them even easier to use in the garden!

Celosia

These sun loving annuals have a truly unique variety of flowers and flower colors. They’re highly attractive to pollinators of all kinds. Flowers can be dried or used fresh in a cut flower arrangement as well.

Coreopsis

Coreopsis is the state wildflower here in Florida and it comes in shades of yellow as well as a bi-color red and yellow. It loves full sun in poor well drained soil. Coreopsis is a wonderful pollinator attractor! It grows easily from seed too. Blooms from late spring to fall.

Coneflower

Coneflowers are one of our most popular perennial options. They are heat and drought resistant, easy to grow, make great cut flowers, and attract birds and pollinators. They are easily propagated by seed or division. Specific native varieties also have medicinal properties. We carry several different selections including the native (Echinacea purpurea) when available.

Dahlberg Daisy

These small yellow daisies have a sprawling wildflower-like appearance and a wonderful lemon scent. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Once established they require little water or maintenance. Loves sandy, well-drained soil.

Dwarf Ixora

Ixora is a perfect tropical shrub for summer color. The dwarf series sports bright clusters of flowers. Plant in the garden or in those hot spot containers by the pool! Grows 3×3 tall and wide.

Firebush

The common Firebush is an excellent native Florida shrub. It has orange/red tubular flowers that are perfect for hummingbirds. By the end of the season Firebush can reach 6’ or taller. More compact varieties are also available. Easy to grow and loves the heat.

Gaura

This wonderful perennial has brightly colored flowers that bloom up its long thin stems. It gives a wonderfully airy texture to your garden or container. Heat and drought tolerant. Deer resistant. Low maintenance.

Gazanias

These wonderful annuals produce vibrantly colored daisy-like flowers with dark green or silver leaves. Great for rock gardens or containers. Salt and drought tolerant. Attracts Butterflies! Grows up to 8”-12” tall & wide.

Dianthus

Dianthus comes in many different selections that vary in height and color. Dianthus flowers are edible and make great cut flowers as well. Dianthus bloom heaviest from fall through spring. Great butterfly attractor!

Dwarf Tibouchina

This is a tropical shrub also known as Princess Flower and it produces velvety purple flowers from spring to fall. It takes our heat and makes a nicely rounded shrub without pruning. Perfect for a large sunny container and gives you a lovely tropical aesthetic.

Firespike

(Odontonema strictum) This reliable perennial is a top choice for attracting hummingbirds. It’s very easy to grow. Often found in the shade but grows just as well in the sun. It reaches up to 3’-6’ tall and blooms in late summer or fall with bright red flowers.

Euphorbia Diamond Frost

This Euphorbia provides a mist of small white flowers that keeps going all season. Loves the heat, deer resistant and low maintenance! Grows Newer varieties stay more compact.

Giant Leopard Plant

Farfugium japonica) – Also known as Tractor Seat Plant, this unique looking perennial provides large round glossy foliage and yellow daisy-like flowers in the fall and winter. It’s often an evergreen here in Tallahassee and requires little maintenance to look stunning. Great for containers and the landscape.

Gerber Daisies

Gerber Daisies come in a spectacular mix of flower colors that sit atop each long stem. They are great for enjoying as an indoor cut flower arrangement. Use gerbers in patio containers or around the landscape for a real show!

Geraniums

Hostas

Hostas are a wonderful shade option that come in a huge variety. Some have beautiful white or yellow margins over large green leaves. By late summer into fall hostas begin blooming with fragrant flowers that can attract hummingbirds. Hostas make a great addition to a container as well!

Gomphrena Truffula Pink

This Proven Winners’ selection has bright pink flowers that are well suited for use in both fresh and dried arrangements. It outperforms other gomphrena selections in hot humid climates. Its hot pink flowers are sure to make it a summer-long standout! Grows to about 2’ tall and wide.

Lemon Grass

(Cymbopogon citratus) Lemon grass is a wonderfully useful plant that is really easy to grow. Indigo Spires

(Salvia longispicata x farinacea) You can count on this robust perennial to have color summer to fall. It has long spikes of deep blue flowers that are great for attracting pollinators. This is a larger growing salvia reaching 3-5’ tall. Propagates easily by cuttings.

Mandevilla

This tropical blooming vine produces an abundance of flowers and grows quickly. Mandevilla provides flowers through spring, summer, and fall. It thrives in hot & sunny locations. Protect from the cold.

Lantana

Lantana is a tough perennial that takes blistering hot sun with little maintenance. It is a must have for anyone looking to attract butterflies and hummingbirds to their garden. Lots of colors and varieties to choose from.

Mexican Heather

Mexican Heather provides color from the moment you plant it, up to the first frost. The profuse amount of purple flowers are often found with bees buzzing about. Drought and heat tolerant. Grows 20”-24” tall & wide.

Mysty Spires

(Salvia hyb.) These small heat hardy salvias are perfect for containers or the front of the perennial garden. It has a deep indigo colored flower that attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Drought tolerant once established. Grows to 12-18” tall.

Mojito Colocasia

(Colocasia esculenta) Mojito has unique camouflage colored leaves that will add a splash of tropical fun to your garden. Can be grown in a container or the landscape. Doesn’t mind a boggy area or at the margin of a pond. Grows 3-5’ tall.

Melampodium

Melampodium is a wonderful sunny garden addition that stays loaded with masses of bright yellow flowers all summer long. Will add color to any container, border, or landscape garden. Looks great in a mass! 10-12” tall and wide.

Mystic Spires

(Salvia longispicata x farinacea) More compact than the Indigo Spires, this heat loving perennial has the same deep blue flowers and blooms until frost. Great pollinator attractor. Looks great with yellow Black-eyed Susans. Grows 2-3’ tall.

Milkweed

Milkweed is most commonly known as the sole host plant for the Monarch butterfly. When in bloom, it’s flowers can be a hub for numerous other pollinators. A mix of native and tropical species are generally in stock when available spring through fall.

Papyrus

These hardy ornamentals can be used around a water garden, in a container or in the landscape. They create a dramatic vertical focal point in a display and require very little maintenance. The ability to grow in the shade or sun and in all kinds of soils makes papyrus an easy choice!

Perennial Hibiscus

Sometimes called Dinner Plate Hibiscus, these impressive perennials present huge 6’’-8’’ flowers in large numbers. Few plants can match the huge display of color each summer. They make for a splashy accent in the landscape or a showstopper in a container. While in bloom they’re a popular stop for butterflies and other pollenator. Varieties can range in height from 3’-6’ tall and 3’-5’ wide.

Persian Shield

(Strobilanthes dyeriana)Persian Shield has unique vibrant purple foliage that shimmers with a hint of silver. This shading loving perennial grows to about 3′ tall and wide and requires little maintenance. They love humid climates, making it a perfect choice for summer gardens. Easy way to add a pop of color to a shady location!

Plumbago

(Plumbago auriculata) Plumbago is an extremely popular perennial found in all kinds of landscape designs. It has either a white or true blue flower that starts blooming in the spring and doesn’t let up until frost. It flowers best in full sun and grows quickly. Plumbago grows into a sprawling shrub that can reach up to 5’-6’ if unpruned. Easy to grow!

Porterweed

(Stachytarpheta sp.) These nectar rich flowers are a favorite among hummingbirds and butterflies. Red, blue, or coral colored flowers depending on the species appear from late spring till frost. Given winter protection it may perennialize. Height varies by species: 1-6’ tall.

Pentas

Purple Heart:Purple Queen

(Setcreasea pallida) This low-growing perennial groundcover has dark purple leaves and small bright pink flowers. It’s incredibly easy to grow and keeps returning in the garden for years. It can look great cascading over the side of a sunny hanging basket or container. 12” – 16” tall and spreading.

Purslane

These succulent-like plants are an easy choice for dry sunny conditions. They require very low maintenance and still provide vibrantly colored flowers all summer. Attractive to bees and butterflies! Stays low 4”- 8” tall and spreads.

Salvia

Salvias come in a wide assortment of colors and appearances. Top choice for attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. They provide height and dramatic color in a mix container or garden bed. May still perennialize with mild winter or reseed itself each season.Easy to grow!

Scaevola

Scaevola is an ideal choice for a sunny container, window box or hanging basket. It stays low and trails with purple, white or pink flowers. Attractive to butterflies and deer resistant. Grows 6”-10” tall & 12”-16” wide.

Sun Hosta

If you love hosta but don’t have enough shade this is the option for you. It has beautiful yellow variegated leaves and fragrant white flowers. Easy to grow with great heat tolerance. Plant in a mixed container or in the landscape. Grows 12-20” tall and 20-24” wide.

Torenia

Torenia comes in a wide range of bi-colored flowers that are rugged enough for the full sun and yet still produce a fantastic display of color in the shade. They’re attractive to bees and butterflies while blooming from spring to fall. Available in an upright variety (12 – 16” tall & wide) or in low growing (8”-12” tall & 10”-16” wide), trailing selection as well.

Sweet Potato Vine

This ornamental sweet potato vine grows and thrives all summer long. This vine needs minimal care and provides excellent color as an annual ground cover or trailing accent in your patio container. Comes in several shades of vibrant green or purple.

Tropical Hibiscus

Hibiscus offers a tropical flair unmatched by many other plants. They love warm sunny weather and come in scores of bold colors. They grow best in containers here in Tallahassee.

Tricolor Stromanthe

A stunning tropical selection that has dramatic multicolored leaves. Can be grown indoors or outside in the shade. Great for containers!

Variegated Shell Ginger

(Alpinia zerumbet ‘Variegata’) These beautiful shade loving gingers add a tropical touch to your garden. It’s long leaves have lovely yellow and green streaks. They can be grown indoors in a bright location or outside with afternoon shade.Can grow 3’-6’ tall and wide.

Variegated Dianella

(Dianella tasmanica ‘Variegata’) -This popular perennial is always in demand. It has clean white streaks over green upright foliage. It makes an exciting vertical accent in a container or a durable foundation plant in the landscape. Very low maintenance and easy to grow! Grows to about 3’ tall.

Verbena

Verbena can be found in several different forms. Some species are tall and upright, some are mounded and low, and others sprawl along the ground. Regardless of what species they always have brilliantly colored flowers that are loved by gardeners and pollinators. They prefer a sunny well drained soil and can be planted in the ground or a container.

Vinca
