Succulents (and cacti) love heat and sun, need very little water and always look green and lovely. Succulents come in a variety of interesting shapes and colors, and can make for great container gardens indoors, on the patio, or even in a perennial rock garden. If you’re a student looking for a plant to liven up your dorm or apartment, succulents always make great, low maintenance gifts!
When caring for these plants, keep in mind that cacti and succulents are able to withstand drought better than wet soil. Let the soil dry out between waterings, as drenching an already damp pot may result in rot. Fertilize once a month in summer with a balance cactus fertilizer (powdered form, diluted in water) or once a year with a slow-release, granular, cactus fertilizer.
If your succulents will be kept indoors, water once every 2-3 weeks, or when soil is dry. Plants near a sunny window might need more frequent waterings.
We have hundreds of succulents and cacti here at Tallahassee Nurseries ready for you to take home!
